What is yours, but used more by others? If you were Jerry Seinfeld, you could say its your kitchen. But cuz you ain't him, its your name.
Your name is your identity, your everything. So what would you do if you were named something like 'Jaffeshwar Gamla'? People would be calling you, 'Arey Jaffa! Get me a can of Pepsi' and what not? You have to live with that for your whole life. Unless you have the patience to go change your name. And if you happen to be in this unfortunate country called India, you will have been dead for 50 years and even then the process might still be not over. And therefore, I ask you, should the power to name you really be allowed to rest in the hands of your parents? Would you be able to live with that name, even if you don't like it?
Imagine if your parents were fans of Sachin and you were named Sachin. But what happens if you turn out to be a fan of Shane Warne? You would be a contradiction in yourself. When people as for your name, you would reply 'Sachin'. Then they ask you, are you a batsman? You have to bow your head and reply, 'No, in fact i am a spinner and my favourite player is Shane Warne.', fearing the reaction of the person who asked your name.
Apparently, some while ago, a child sued her parents over her name. She was named something very funny (I don't remember what it was though) and the child was being subject to a lot of comments from her peers. And you know what? The child actually won the case. The court sentenced the parents as pedophobes (or something to that effect) and even threatened to jail them if they didn't change the name of their child soon.
Therefore, i propose a reform. I suggest that until the age of 18, the age when you ''become an adult'', all people be named something like R2-D2, like organized machines. Then, at the age of 18, the person himself decides what he should be named. This will ensure that you will be called what you like.
Of course, if you were a self-loathing maniac, you could name yourself as 'Crap Bag'. As you wish, my dear fellow, as you wish! If you care about yourself, you will name yourself sensibly. Probably, after someone you love or admire. But i suspect then, there would be a lot of Brad Pitt's or Lionel Messi's.
So my fellow people, let's start this revolution. Let's make naming a right of our own. You are your own boss.
