Just heard a depressing and horrific story. It has once again started doubts and has raised strong questions as to where humanity is heading in this present scenario.
The following is a description of this truly repulsive story. Wife and husband both work in a software company in Hyderabad. Both of them occupy "high" positions in the company. Wife gives birth to a child one day. She takes a maternity leave of just two months, but then she has to get back to work.
So wife and husband hire a nanny to take care of the two month old boy. Over the course of the next two months, wife and husband realise that the boy has been losing some weight. They wonder what the reason is, but they don't go further than wondering.
Then one day, wife gets sick at work and comes back early. She comes home to see that they boy is not home, only the nanny is. She asks the nanny where the boy is. She replies, "I've sent him out, he'll be back by evening."
Wife panics, calls relatives, the police, etc. But nanny repeats the same words, "He'll be back in the evening".
And finally, around 4 or so in the evening, the kid is brought home by a guy. He's wearing torn clothes, with ash rubbed over his body. The boy was being used as a bait for begging. The nanny was under a contract to send the boy out everyday and make him look as if he was a poor kid.
After listening to this story. I felt really sad and depressed. I asked, who's to blame? The woman, for living in a society where she is forced to subject an innocent two month old kid to such harsh treatment for making a living? Or the parents, who shedding all responsibility, chose career over their child?
I personally felt disgusted at the parents. The sole responsibility of a mother is to take care of her child. Agreed, in the present day,a woman has the right to a career too. What is more important, your child or your career? Words cannot describe properly how I am feeling about this.
