Another old FB post.
INSOMNIA - You wish you had it during the nights before exams. But that never happens.
When you have Insomnia, you are never really awake. But you are not really asleep either. You can feel your eyelids getting heavier. Time to switch the light off and get cozy under your blanket. Close your eyes. Ahhh.. you think your are gonna fall asleep. The illusion of sleep takes over you. Time passes.
And yet, you are still rolling around in bed, waiting for your brain to stop thinking and let your sub-conscious take over. Let the imagination pour into the dreams. And yet, somehow, your mind wont let you sleep. You shut your eyes tighter. "Shut up and sleep". Start counting sheep. A big flock of sheep. A VERY big flock . You wish you had a "power off" button. Is this just a dream?
Then your mind starts lingering. The past becomes present. All the times you screwed up torture you again, coming to life in your own head. The self-executed punishment. You want to take your thoughts off. You think about something else. Something good. But magically, all roads lead to hell. You are hostage to yourself. You cant hide from your own mind. Neither can you run.
So you try and get occupied. You give up all hopes of falling asleep. Flick the light back on. Sit up in your bed and look around for something to do. Pick up a book. Few pages later, you cant read anymore. Your eyelids are heavy again. But this time, you know you cant sleep. So you pick up the laptop. You start to watch a movie. But then again, its the same old story.
You put some music on, browse the web. You see something called "Notes" in Facebook. "Might as well write about this damn Insomnia". So you type something random. Then you realise, it really aint helping you.
