One of the things I do when I'm traveling on the city roads is to observe men who think they are casually glancing at female travelers. Observe not in a voyerustic fashion, but curious fashion.
It is amazing how many male heads turn to stare at women traveling on their vehicles. Its not restricted to an age group - men of all ages do it to women of all ages. (Like I said in a previous post, I am not immune to this myself, but I'd like to think that I do it less frequently, if not never)
I don't think I'm qualified to discuss whether this is some deep seated urge or is revealing of the psychology of men.
But what I do think is that we (men) think that we are being discreet or undetectable when we are checking out women. Because we have a first person perspective only, we probably imagine that our leching is discreet. In the same way that perhaps a student attempting to copy in his exam thinks the invigilator cannot see through him, but can.
Only when you look upon it from a third person perspective that you realise that it is not discreet at all. In fact, it is blatantly obvious. Its cringe-worthy.
I realised this (by observing, as stated in the first para) and understood how disgusting and pathetic I must have looked to a third person (or even the second person) while leching at women.
And guys, dont think that I or the other guys that I observed were incapable of being discreet and that you know how to do this. It just cant be done and even if it can be, its not a nice thing to do anyway.
Would it be possible that so many men stare at women only because they do not realise how foolish and disgusting they look while doing it? Yes, there are some dicks who would do it even after realising it, but not everyone.
I'm not making excuses for this behaviour, just seeking to understand the reasons behind it.
