Notes on the Milan vs. Barca First Leg match

Yesterday night’s trump card match at San Siro was amazing. True, the score line remained without any goals added to it, but then, I’m sure that many will agree with me when I say that it was the most exciting 0-0 in the history of football. Allegri finally got his tactics right (unlike against Arsenal at the Emirates), and I can see what his plan was. He didn’t want to concede an away goal, and ideally would’ve wanted Milan to score. But then, as I say, our world is far from perfect. The next thing to do would try toscore an early goal in the Camp Nou and try to hold Barca off for as long as possible. Even a draw with goals in it would be enough for Milan to get through. It’s a very risky tactic. But it paid off, thanks no less, to some brilliant moments from the Milan defence. Jose Mourinho tried to do the same last season with Real Madrid against Barca in the semis. But his plan was foiled by a despicable act by Dani Alves, which resulted in Pepe being sent off. The mat

What's going on?

I have just checked out the "Visitors statistics" on my blog. And I just found one of the most intriguing facts in there. There have been about 1100 viewers from the "US of A". And only 300 from this beloved country of mine. I mean, that really is a shock. There have even been viewers from Russia, Vietnam, Belgium and a few other nations. Gee! What am I doing here to attract such a vast variety of viewers? I was under the impression that I was the only one who ever read (and re-read) my blogs. Whatever it is I'm doing, I hope i can damn well continue it! Later, my international (and national) friends!

This Is The Life

The following are the lyrics of a song "This Is the Life" by Dream Theater. THIS IS THE LIFE In the heart of your most solemn barren night   When your soul's turned inside out   Have you questioned all the madness you invite   What your life is all about   Some of us choose to live gracefully   Some can get caught in the maze   And lose their way home   This is the life we belong to   Our gift divine   Have you ever wished that you were someone else   Traded places in your mind   It's only a waste of your time   Some of us choose to live gracefully   Some can get caught in the maze   And lose their way home   This is the life we belong to   Our gift divine Feed the illusion you dream about   Cast out the monsters inside Life begins with an empty slate   Fragile left in the hands of fate   Driven by love and crushed by hate   Until the day The gift is gone   And shadows remain   Some of us choose to live gracefully   Some

Humanity? What's that?

Just heard a depressing and horrific story. It has once again started doubts and has raised strong questions as to where humanity is heading in this present scenario. The following is a description of this truly repulsive story. Wife and husband both work in a software company in Hyderabad. Both of them occupy "high" positions in the company. Wife gives birth to a child one day. She takes a maternity leave of just two months, but then she has to get back to work. So wife and husband hire a nanny to take care of the two month old boy. Over the course of the next two months, wife and husband realise that the boy has been losing some weight. They wonder what the reason is, but they don't go further than wondering. Then one day, wife gets sick at work and comes back early. She comes home to see that they boy is not home, only the nanny is. She asks the nanny where the boy is. She replies, "I've sent him out, he'll be back by evening." Wife panics, c

OLD AGE

Living with a 75+ year old man who has nothing but demented memories and paranoia has got me thinking a lot about old age. Is it worth living so long, when all you serve to do is be sad and make the people around you (the ones who love you and care for you) feel sad and haunt them? All that my grandfather seems to think is that his wife, me and my family have some sort of grudge against him and want to kill him. I do not know how he came to that conclusion. While my grandmother takes care of him everyday, helping him even in the smallest and simplest of matters, he sees her being evil. An idle mind is a devil's workshop, they say. I have come to realise that this is indeed an excellent saying. Having lost his sight due to glaucoma,  he can do nothing but lie on his bed all day. Lack of exercise (mental and physical) seems to have eroded all his memories and they have been replaced by false memories, which apparently depict us as the antagonists. Before he turned this way, he

Doesn't Make sense to Me

I have recently become acquainted with this religious concept called "Lent" which is followed by the Catholics. From what I have heard from my friends, it apparently is a ritual for a period of 40 days, when people give up their "bad" habits, fast and follow some other norms. The first thought I had was that it sounded very similar to the "Ayyappa Vratham" ( which is for a period of 40 days) which is followed by some Hindus. This vratham also preaches that devotees should fast and and stop cursing, consuming alcohol and to not smoke. And this act of penance or whatever one might prefer to call it, will supposedly purge your sins. I can see how this rituals made sense to the people who conceived it. A period during which people give up doing things frowned upon by society. During this period, they will not be frowned upon or be cast a disgusted look. So, they might feel good, and give up such habits permanently. It is indeed, a brilliant idea. In an ide
